COVID-19 & ST MARTINS SCHOOL
COVID-19 URGENT APPEAL
A SAFE SPACE
Covid-19 is having a severe impact on the people of the Kilbagare slum in Kenya, and an even greater impact on the pupils of St Martin’s school.
Poor living conditions, poor healthcare and poor sanitation contribute to the spread and severity of the disease.Yet throughout this, StMartin’s has stuck true to its mission to educate as many children as possible, providing them with a safe environment where they can play, learn and receive regular meals.
The school is a sanctuary not just a place of education for over 1000 children from Kilbagare. But that safe space is under threat.
COVID-19 is threatening the existence of our school
Every child has a right to an education. But more than that every child has the right to feel safe and secure. The slum of Kilbagare is a desperately difficult place to grow up in. St Martin’s provides a respite from the daily hardships of hunger, poverty and disease. We’re more than a school to our students, we’re a vital relief from their difficult lives.
With your help we can keep our children safe, secure and happy as we all navigate the difficulties of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Help us keep
our children safe
To reopen and to remain open for all pupils we need to be able to keep the children safe and that presents problems. Social distancing and face masks are vital for every child in any school. Now imagine that same issue in a place where it’s a struggle to even get children into education. It becomes an almost impossible task.
So we need your help to survive.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
FACEMASKS - UNIFORMS - SANITATION - SCHOOL HALL
We are urgently seeking donations to help the school reopen for all pupils and keep the children safe. All donations are welcome but we have three areas that we urgently need to address in order to meet the minimum standards of safety.

THE SPACE TO GROW
St Martin’s has always made a huge impact on the lives of the children in our care. Here are the stories of some current and past children who’ve benefited from both the education and safe space that we have created along the years.
