HOW TO DONATE
Help us keep our children safe, and the school open
To reopen and to remain open for all pupils we need to be able to keep the children safe and that presents problems. Social distancing and face masks are vital for every child in any school. Now imagine that same issue in a place where it’s a struggle to even get children into education. It becomes an almost impossible task.
So we need your help to survive.
A SAFE SPACE
Covid-19 continues to have an impact on the people of the Kibagare slum in Kenya, and on the pupils of St Martin’s school.
Poor living conditions, poor healthcare and poor sanitation contribute to the spread and severity of the disease. Yet throughout this, St Martin’s has stuck true to its mission to educate as many children as possible, providing them with a safe environment where they can play, learn and receive regular meals.
The school is a sanctuary not just a place of education for over 1000 children from Kibagare.
Covid-19 still threatens the existence of our school
Every child has a right to an education. But more than that every child has the right to feel safe and secure. The slum of Kibagare is a desperately difficult place to grow up in. St Martin’s provides a respite from the daily hardships of hunger, poverty and disease. We’re more than a school to our students, we’re a vital relief from their difficult lives.
With your help we can keep our children safe, secure and happy as we all navigate the difficulties of the Covid-19 pandemic.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
FACEMASKS - UNIFORMS - SANITATION - SCHOOL HALL
We are seeking donations to help keep the school open for all pupils and keep the children safe. All donations are welcome but we have three areas that we urgently need to address in order to meet the minimum standards of safety.
CLEAN SPACE
$50
Social distancing means that our sanitation now needs a rapid upgrade. Extra water sources as well as toilet facilities and the ability to keep them clean and in good working order will help us keep the children safe from the fear of Covid-19 infection and you can help with a donation of $50.
BREATHING SPACE $100
For many around the world, Covid-19 means creating social distance. For St Martin’s, it means that we urgently need to create more space for the children to congregate in. A new expanded hall is vital for the school to be able to contribute in its mission to help the children in the Kilbagare slum. Your $100 donation will go directly to help us build a new school hall.
THE SPACE TO GROW
St Martin’s has always made a huge impact on the lives of the children in our care. Here are the stories of some current and past children who’ve benefited from both the education and safe space that we have created along the years.
Donations for our feeding program
You can make a difference by making a donation to the School. All donations have a big impact on the lives of our students no matter how small, help support our community with our Kibagare Feeding Program
